Solar Rebate NSW Government 2021/2022

Do you want to save money on your solar panel system?

The NSW government is offering a rebate of up to 33% off the cost of your solar panel system. This means that if you spend $10,000 on a 5kW system, you’ll receive $3,300 back from the state government! That’s huge savings for homeowners who are looking to go green and save some cash at the same time.

The Australian government is looking to increase the use of solar power across Australia. It’s a smart move, considering that country has more sunlight than any other continent and access to natural resources like wind energy as well! With large-scale plants coming online in no time at all it won’t be long before we’re on our way towards drawing 100% from renewable sources for good – something which will give us not only cleaner air but also cheaper electricity prices thanks to reduced demand charges when generating your own supply instead (and this doesn’t even take into account how much happier you’ll feel knowing environmental damage isn’t causing global warming). But wait there are still some things happening: firstly incentives need tweaking because they currently

Renewable Energy Target participants who invest in, and generate, renewable energy may be eligible for financial incentives under the scheme. The Renewable Energy (RET) initiative has been set up by the Australian Government to promote cutting-edge green technologies while at the same time reducing carbon productivity costs Australia wide – which will help us meet ambitious international climate targets ahead of schedule!

These financial incentives are offered in the form of tradable certificates, which act as an electronic form. Certificates can be created for each unit that generates or displaces renewable energy from a system (e.g., one certificate is made up of large scale generation). These allowances work similarly to how fuel tax credits function on gas stations- they provide discounts on your electric bill!

Outline

Households and small businesses across Australia that install a small scale renewable energy system (solar, wind or hydro) or eligible hot water system may be able to receive a benefit under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) to help with the purchase cost.

Installing an eligible system allows the creation of Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) with a value that can be redeemed by selling or assigning them. The number of STCs created is based on:

  • the amount of renewable electricity the system produces or the amount of electricity consumption it reduces
  • the climate region where it’s installed.

Eligibility

Small-scale renewable systems that may be eligible for certificates include:

  • solar photovoltaic (PV) panels
  • wind turbines
  • hydro systems
  • solar water heaters, and
  • air source heat pumps.

Owners have 2 options for receiving benefits for their STCs:

  1. Assigning them to an agent, usually the system installer, in exchange for a discount or delayed cash payment.
  2. Selling the certificates themselves.

There are 2 options for selling the certificates:

  1. Through the open STCs market with pricing subject to market forces.
  2. Through the STCs Clearing House with the price fixed at $40 per STC, excluding GST.
